Privacy Policy
- Hosk collects the data you connect or upload so it can build your fleet’s books: Turo trips, bank and card transactions, tracker trips, tolls, photos and files.
- We don’t sell your data, we don’t show ads, and we don’t use analytics or tracking cookies.
- A few trusted companies help run Hosk (hosting, database, bank connections, AI). They are listed below.
- You can disconnect a bank at any time, download a backup, or ask us to delete your data.
1. Who we are
Hosk (“Hosk”, “we”, “us”) is fleet bookkeeping software for car-sharing hosts. It is operated by Surge LLC, a Pennsylvania limited liability company, [MAILING ADDRESS]. Questions about this policy or your data: hello@gethosk.com.
This policy covers the Hosk website, the Hosk app, QuikPic by hosk, Hosk AI and email forwarding to Hosk (together, the “Service”).
2. What we collect
Information you give us
- Waitlist and contact details: your email address and anything you write to us.
- Sign-in details: the password or sign-in you use for Hosk.
- Fleet details: your cars (name, make, model, year, VIN, plate), what they cost, loans, bills, expenses and rules you set.
- Turo trip exports: reservations, dates, earnings, fees, odometer readings and the guest names Turo includes in its export.
- Files you upload: toll records, bank statements, spreadsheets and Hosk backups.
- Photos and documents sent to QuikPic: receipts, tickets, damage photos, dashboards, registration, insurance and purchase paperwork. These can show names, addresses, VINs, plates and card digits.
- Emails you forward to your Hosk address: the sender, subject, text and up to two attachments.
- Messages to Hosk AI: what you type and Hosk’s answers.
Information from services you connect
- Banks and cards, through Plaid: account names and the last digits of account numbers, and transactions (date, amount, description, merchant, and the store’s location when your bank provides it). Hosk only requests transaction data. We never see your bank username or password; Plaid handles that sign-in. Plaid’s handling of your data is described in the Plaid End User Privacy Policy.
- Telematics, through Bouncie: each vehicle’s trips, including times, locations, mileage and driving data the tracker reports.
Information collected automatically
- Browser storage: Hosk saves your sign-in and a few display preferences in your browser. See the Cookie Policy.
- Server logs: our hosting provider records standard request details such as IP address, browser type and time, to keep the Service running and secure.
We do not use analytics tools, advertising pixels or tracking cookies.
3. How we use it
- To run the Service: build your profit and loss by car, match bank charges to cars, trips and guests, track tolls, tickets, claims and maintenance, and answer your questions.
- To learn from your own data so Hosk gets more accurate for you, such as which store a receipt came from or how your bank dates charges. This learning stays in your account.
- To keep the Service secure, fix problems and prevent abuse.
- To contact you about the waitlist, your account and important changes. You can unsubscribe from non-essential emails at any time.
- To meet legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, share it for targeted advertising, or use it to build profiles for anyone else.
4. AI processing
Hosk uses Anthropic’s Claude models to read photos, documents, spreadsheets and emails, and to power Hosk AI. When you use those features, the content is sent to Anthropic to be processed and the result is returned to Hosk. Anthropic acts as our service provider under its commercial terms, which state that it does not train its models on content sent through its API. AI can make mistakes, so Hosk shows you what it did and lets you change or undo it.
5. Who we share it with
We share data only with the service providers that help run Hosk, only for that purpose:
| Provider | What it does for Hosk | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Vercel | Hosts the website and app | All app traffic, server logs |
| Upstash | Database | Your Hosk data, photos |
| Plaid | Connects your banks and cards | Bank connection and transactions |
| Bouncie | Connects your trackers | Vehicle trips and locations |
| Anthropic | AI reading and Hosk AI | Photos, files, emails and messages you send to AI features |
| Resend | Receives emails you forward to Hosk | Forwarded emails and attachments |
| U.S. Census Bureau Geocoder and OpenStreetMap Nominatim | Turn store addresses into map points | Store addresses and map points, not your name |
| Cloudflare (cdnjs) and Google Fonts | Deliver code libraries and fonts to your browser | Your IP address and browser details |
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect people’s rights and safety, or as part of a merger or sale of the business (we would tell you first). Anything else needs your consent.
6. Your guests’ information
Turo exports, tickets and claims can include your guests’ names and trip details. You upload that information as the host, and you are responsible for having the right to do so under Turo’s terms and the law. Hosk uses it only to run the Service for you, never to contact your guests.
7. How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is active. When you disconnect a bank in Hosk, its transactions are removed from Hosk. Saved photos stay until you ask us to delete them or delete your account. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your data within 30 days, except what we must keep by law. Copies in our providers’ backups are removed on their normal schedule.
8. How we protect it
Data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and is stored with providers that encrypt it at rest. Access to the app requires your sign-in. Saved photos are stored behind private, hard-to-guess links: anyone who has a photo’s exact link can view that photo, so share links with care. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and the authorities as the law requires.
9. Your choices and rights
- See or download your data: use Download a backup in Settings, or ask us.
- Correct it: edit it in Hosk, or ask us.
- Delete it: delete items in Hosk, unlink a bank in Integrations, use Start over in Settings to erase your ledger, or ask us. For anything you can’t remove yourself yet, such as a tracker connection or saved photos, email us and we will do it.
- Stop emails: use the unsubscribe link, or ask us.
Some states give residents specific privacy rights. We honor these requests for every user, wherever you live. Email hello@gethosk.com. We may need to confirm it’s you before acting, and we will answer within 45 days. We will not treat you differently for using your rights.
10. Children
Hosk is for businesses and adults. It is not meant for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect children’s information.
11. Where your data is processed
Hosk is offered to hosts in the United States. Our providers process data in the United States and possibly other countries where they operate.
12. Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell you in Hosk or by email before it takes effect.
